With a financial crunch getting the best out of everyone in the world, every cent is very important. And with the prices of gasoline and other petroleum products going up high in a steady pace, people need as much help they can get just to save up on some expenses. And one very important aspect of human life is getting g from one place to another. And just as said earlier, gas prices just isn’t very affordable for many nowadays. That is why many people have been turning to other alternatives when it comes to their transportation needs. And one very promising option is using motorized bicycle. And converting your bike to become more efficient by installing an engine to it is as easy as ABC. Here’s how.

First, of course, you’ll need a bicycle. It doesn’t matter if it’s old or new, as long as it is still functional. You’ll also need an engine that you can put into it. Again, old or new engine will work as long as they are still running. Lastly, you’ll also need several tools common to most mechanics like wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

After getting your hands on the basic parts and tools, the first thing you do is to remove the rear wheel of the bike. It is important to know that the rear axle be fastened with nuts instead of quick releases. A longer rear axle is also important to provide space for the rear engine mount. Then a drive ring should be installed onto the spokes. But before that, a helpful tip is to dab a little detergent into the grooves to make the installation easier. Then you have to loop the Kevlar belt around the drive ring that is already installed and pop the rear wheel back into the frame, but leaving the nuts loose for later.

Next thing to do is to install the rear mounting bracket into the engine with a couple of bolts. All the necessary mounting instructions needed are usually included in the engine kit.

Then the front mounting strap should be installed onto the engine, again using bolts for security. Next, you position the rear bracket on the axle. Then you loop the drive belt over the drive and idler pulleys, and attach the front of the front mounting strap to the existing holes on the bike frame. This front mounting strap can also serve as a rear fender. The engine cover can now be easily slipped on and held by a wingnut.

After installing the engine on the rear, it is now time for the throttle and start button in the front side of the bike. The throttle lever has a spring clip that is positioned in a comfortable location at the right handlebar grip. This can be easily repositioned while riding. The engine start/kill button can then be mounted on the left handlebar grip.

Last thing to do is routing the throttle cable and button wiring along the frame, making sure there are no binds and kinks. Also make sure that the throttle can be operated smoothly. Lastly, make sure that everything is neat and in their proper places. Use nylon to tie them up.

This installation process can be done in just half an hour, even by a non-experienced mechanic. All you need to do is follow the instructions properly and have the right tools around you.

Now that your motorized bicycle is ready, it’s now time to cruise into the sunset without worrying too much about the high prices of gasoline. Enjoy and have a nice trip! And oh, drive safely…
